Important Note: If a licensed esthetician is employed by a physician and is performing services or procedures by delegation of the physician that are not within the esthetician’s scope of practice, the esthetician may not represent themselves as an esthetician while performing the delegated service or procedure. In such circumstances, the individual acts as an unlicensed assistant to the physician, not as an esthetician. Services provided under delegation must follow the physician-patient relationship guidelines: the patient must be under the care of the physician, the physician must examine the patient, determine the course of treatment, and delegate the service to be performed accordingly.
